My Design Process

ico1

UX Research + User Interviews

I research the project's subject matter, and interview key users to uncover potential pain points. I storyboard all key processes.

ico1

Sketch + Wireframe

Using sketches and wireframes, I nail down the ideal workflow. This process involves multiple iterations. The UX design becomes clear in this process.

ico1

Prototype + User Test

Using Figma, I build high-fidelity prototypes that showcase every workflow. I use these prototypes to conduct user testing, and gather feedback to fuel design iterations.

Assets + Front-End Development

Using Photoshop, I create pixel perfect assets, imagery and icons. I handle the Front-End Development myself, I'm fluent in HTML, CSS, Javascript and React.

Featured Work

  • Coca-Cola Freestyle

The most challenging aspect of this project was the large amount of beverages, and the hierarchy in which they had to be placed. The interfaces proved successful, the only limitation was the machine's hardware and screen size.

  • Toasty Automation

Toasty Automation provides 24/7 tanning and door access using hardware and touchscreen interfaces. Toasty was my company, and was also my first experience as a Project Manager. Being a startup, I was the UX/Web/Print Designer and CEO.

  • AT&T User Experience Simulation

This was an interesting project to work on from a User Experience perspective. AT&T needed a clear UX guide that can train phone manufacturers the User Experience of any AT&T handset. These were the days before Apple and Google standardized the market.

A little more about me

I graduated from the Atlanta College of Art with a degree in Communication Design. When I'm not designing, I enjoy spending time with my family, gaming, sketching, camping and cooking. I have a strong passion for technology, user experience and game design.

Stanley Black + Decker Beyond Measure AR Experience

User Experience Design
XR Design

Stanley Black + Decker needed an AR app that would help retailers compare their many different tape measures. The design includes an AR x-ray/exploded view, as well as an AR standout wall to help the user visualize the different standout lengths available.

Know Wake

User Experience Design
High Fidelity Wireframing

Know Wake is a Point of Interest (POI) app built for boaters. Similar to Waze, it’s users can create POIs that other boaters might be interested in (hazards, marine life, police, fuel, boat parties). I was tasked with designing a new POI creation user flow that would allow the user to create detailed POIs from multiple categories with comments and photos.

GE Renewables AR Experience

User Experience Design
XR Design

GE Renewables needed an AR app that would help their technicians to visualize, locate, and replace various parts of their wind turbines. The process includes a unique target that would be placed near the turbine. The app rendered a 3d view that the technician can use to locate hard to access parts.

Fusion Reality Labs

User Experience Design

Fusion Reality Labs needed a mobile first job application solution.
I handled the UX, UI, and prototyped it in Twitter Bootstrap.

You can view the protoype here (mobile only)

Toasty Automation

User Experience Design
Product Management

I was the Product Manager and UX Lead at Toasty Automation. We designed and developed technology for businesses with door access and tanning automation needs.

Coca-Cola Freestyle

User Experience Design
User Testing

Coca-Cola's Freestyle changes the way people drink Coke from a fountain. Over the course of almost a year, I designed and built the user interfaces, backgrounds and buttons for this project, mostly from a top secret room at Coke's headquarters in Atlanta.

After the interfaces were implemented in the demo, I oversaw the extensive user testing process. We documented the entire user experience for hundreds of candidates, recording their interaction patterns, touchscreen selections, and timing their selection process.

While the touch interface was a huge hit with most testers, the large amount of flavor options tended to delay the selection process. We recommended to Coke that a restaurant will need two or more machines installed to prevent line congestion.
